Great theater continues to remain relevant long past its first performances. "The Crucible," written in 1953 about the 1690 Salem witch trials, addresses issues that are as applicable today as when it debuted.

Using the historical inspiration, playwright Arthur Miller took aim at the campaign spreading fear of alleged Communists led by U.S. Sen. Joseph McCarthy.
